To guide community development at Welaunee and ensure protection
of a variety of resources, the family adopted these eight design
principles:
1. Embrace and protect the adjacent canopy roads
2. Enhance connectivity to and use of the Miccosukee Canopy
Road Greenway
3. Create a diversity of land uses reflecting the traditional
community patterns of Tallahassee
4. Respect the historical significance of the North Florida
quality of life
5. Conserve and utilize natural features of the site, including
wetlands, upland vegetation, steep slopes, ravines and floodways
6. Integrate natural and built environments to create a
whole community
7. Design a livable community that enhances th existing
beauty of Welaunee
8. Provide leadership in addressing existing neighborhood
problems
