Welaunee is proud to announce that after 20 months of planning, community input and local government review, the Welaunee Critical Area Plan was adopted as an amendment of the Tallahassee-Leon County Comprehensive Plan.

The Florida Department of Community Affairs (DCA), which is the state land planning agency, has completed a review of the Critical Area Plan. Additionally, public comments were heard about the proposed plan until December 10, 2002. At the conclusion of the review and public testimony, the Critical Area Plan was approved and became a part of Goals, Objectives and Policies of the Tallahassee-Leon County Comprehensive Plan and will guide future development for the Toe and Heel of Welaunee.

The date for commencement of development in the Toe and Heel in Welaunee has not been determined, but it is estimated that it will continue for approximately 20 years once development has begun.
