The State of Florida Department of Community Affairs (DCA) and other pertinent agencies including Florida Department of Environmental Protection, Florida Department of Transportation, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conversation Commission and the Northwest Florida Water Management District are currently approving the Welaunee CAP. Approval will be completed by August 2002.

On Thursday, May 30 the City and County Commission unanimously approved Welaunee's Critical Area Plan for transmittal to the State of Florida Department of Community Affairs (DCA).

The Welaunee Critical Area Plan will now be reviewed by DCA and other pertinent agencies including Florida Department of Environmental Protection, Florida Department of Transportation, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conversation Commission and the Northwest Florida Water Management District.

This review process lasts approximately 60 days. This Fall, the City and County Commission will consider final adoption of Welaunee Critical Area Plan.
