The State of Florida Department of Community Affairs (DCA) has released its report regarding the Welaunee Critical Area Plan (CAP) amendment. DCA reviewed the plan for 2,000 acres of the Welaunee property known as the “Toe” and “Heel,” and only one issue requires additional attention. In the report, DCA made one objection regarding transportation. However, DCA acknowledged that the remaining elements of the Welaunee CAP are in compliance with Florida law. “This is significant for a project of this size and complexity to have a positive review from DCA at this stage of the planning process,” said Joel Embry. “We will continue working with the local government and citizens to develop solutions for transportation and to address DCA’s concerns.”
